Hanna Kokko has been selected for Germany’s most valuable international research award - the Alexander von Humboldt professorship, which comes along with € 3.5 million for theoretical scientists for the first five years.
Hanna Kokko, currently working as a professor at the University of Zurich, has been nominated by the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and invited to become founding director of the Institute for Quantitative and Computational Biosciences – an interdisciplinary institute at the interface of biology, bioinformatics and medicine. She is a leading expert in the field of theoretical biology aiming to identify the interaction of evolution and ecological processes.
In addition to Hanna Kokko, the Johannes Gutenberg University and the Institute of Molecular Biology gGmbH already succeeded 2018 in recruiting Peter Baumann via the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship. Hanna Kokko and Peter Baumann are both members of the EMTHERA network.
